The expedition leader is responsible for the general equipment and all logistics of the expedition, including the choice of route and location of camps. During the expedition the leader may assist clients on his/her own rope, or may delegate staff members to assist. The leader or assistant will demonstrate fully the procedure for the safe use of fixed ropes. Expedition members are expected to fully understand these instructions for ascent and descent and comply with them at all times during the expedition.
The expedition leader may at times be required to be a technical advisor for other parties climbing independently on the same mountain.
The Sherpas employed by Himalayan Experience Ltd. are considered as members of staff. They will assist in all aspects of the expedition, including the fixing of ropes and carrying of party equipment and placement of camps. Only upon arrangement are they responsible for carrying the personal equipment of participants.
The team members will have to deal with a hostile environment including changes in temperature, weather and culture. Objective dangers and medical problems may occur which are linked with the altitude and lack of oxygen, which could lead to Altitude Sickness, Frostbite or Death. This environment and living closely in a small group may generate stress problems for some participants.
The expedition leader or assistant may in the interest of safety request the participants to stop the ascent any time during the expedition.
